5 Santa Barbara Specialties for Your Food List

santa barbara specialties post

Santa Barbara has so many wonderful restaurants and cuisines to choose from. Whether you’re a fan of classic Italian or looking for something a little spicy, there are a lot if restaurants we tell ALL of our guests that they cannot miss out on!

McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams

McConnell’s ice cream. They are a SB favorite for over 70 years. And make ice cream producing more responsible and sustainable – how cool! All of their ice cream flavors are absolutely delicious & have something for everyone (nondairy options included!). Made from local ingredients (from scratch!) their ice cream also does not include stabilizers, preservatives, or fillers. Our favorite flavors?

  • Eureka Lemon & Marionberries
  • Sweet Cream Caramel Brownie (TO DIE FOR!!)
  • Toasted Coconut Almond Chip

The Sportsman Lounge

One of the oldest dive bars in Santa Barbara! The Sportsman Lounge isn’t your typical sports bar, it’s clean, the drinks are fab, and the vibe is a mix between awesome & divey . This is a stop on our Taco tour & sometimes makes an appearance on our Downtown tour as well. If you dig the less bougie bar scene, with great drinks (good wine selection too!) & awesome bartenders then this is a great place to stop in for a cocktail.

Los Arroyos & Taqueria Santa Barbata

We don’t like to pick favorites, BUT Mexican food is definitely a favorite of ours! If you love Mexican food as much as we do, Los Arroyos & Taqueria SB are must-visits. Both are family-owned and operated, and have some of the best homemade Mexican food around and the ingredients are fresh and delicious. Don’t miss out on the guacamole, variety of salsas, and street tacos! Our fave at Los Arroyos currently is the rajas and Taqueria SB is the potato taco!

Grassini Family Vineyards

It’s no secret that we love wine and love to recommend our favorite local wineries to out-of-towners. One we always recommend? Grassini Family Vineyards! This family-owned and operated boutique winery specializes in Bordeaux varieties and uses renewable and sustainable resources.

The Chase

Good old-style New York Italian food is a must-have in any city, Santa Barbara included! The Chase is one of our go-to. They serve traditional Italian food that will leave you full for days. Don’t sleep on the Picatta!
