New Restaurant Alert – Lilac Montecito
We had the pleasure of joining Lilac Montecito during their soft opening week. Gluten Free and Fine Dining.
Both locations of Lilac are decorated tastefully and clean, reminiscent of one another, similar vibes, but not the same.
Once you are inside, you never again are reminded that the food is all Gluten Free, every single item and no more gluten free in your face signs and once you are in you would never guess there are no traces of gluten anywhere.
No gluten. Anywhere in the restaurant.
Ravioli is normally made with all the gluten, but not at Lilac, no gluten, not ever.
I am very much a steak girl. Years ago, I learned that often sauces have wheat flour in it. and often the sauce has flour in it to help thicken the sauce. Not at Lilac. No Gluten Flour found here. We enjoyed a lovely bone in steak, accompanied by beautiful white swirls of mashed potatoes, balsamic onions and peas!
This beautiful swirl is not mashed potatoes (although the side of mashpos were served in a similar swirl). This is a butter swirl for your gluten free rolls!
I was so hungry and excited when I got to the table I forgot to take pics of the rolls. This pictures was taken when I was waiting for the rolls to come visit me. I had been in the beautiful restroom when the rolls made their debut at our table.
Little touches make big impressions
I tend to grab a paper towel before I open the handle of the door, I noticed that when I was exiting the very clean bathroom, a small strategically placed trashcan was by the door. making it very easy to throw my door handle paper towel away without doing one of those weird leg out arm out maneuvers to keep the door open and not touch the handle again and not fall.
We got some other things too…
A yellowtail crudo. Check out the IG for the video of the interactive appetizer. We also got a soup and a salad. We devoured both before I remembered to take a picture.
And of course dessert…
When given the chance, I will almost always order a plain cheesecake and this one did not disappoint.
We also ordered a chocolate layer cake thing. It was delicious, but I am not a huge rich chocolate person, so someone else would probably love it more than me. Not to say that I wouldn’t take a few bites if someone ordered it at the table…
I can’t wait to try Lilac Montecito again and again and see what gluten free fineness they have in store for us. In the meantime, get yourself there and don’t forget to get yourself on a Taste Santa Barbara Food Tour!
